Dr. Peggy Drexler: Child Guru

Dr. Peggy Drexler is more than an author. By combining her Ph.D. in psychology and curiosity about different dynamics of family life, she explores relationships in an interesting way.

Her first book, Raising Boys Without Men, focused on how to raise boys in families with no father. Her expertise as a psychologist leads her to share more than just tips on raising children, but how to reach them to make them better people. She also published Our Fathers, Ourselves: Daughters, Fathers, and the Changing American Family. According to Drexler, growing up without a father has led her to examine how children are shaped by these relationships.

Her columns appear regularly in the Huffington Post, where she often relates happenings in the news and how the affect children. Her most recent centered on how to talk to children who admired Lance Armstrong. She feels role models are crucial to a child's development, and their downfalls should be approached with honesty.

I admire Drexler for her passion about her writing and her goal of reaching and helping families. I do, however, come across typos and style errors frequently.
